As stated 1-717-918-2665 is for the Home Style Books book of the month club.  Today there was a $ 30.00 charge on my bank account and I have not ordered anything in this amount from the book club.  I have tried to return 2 books I received and did not want.  The return address does not have a P.O  box or address, just the name of the company and the city, and my local Fed Ex idiot customer service person would not take the return;  I am not aware that they can automatically charge my account and can't get any information until tomorrow.  I will cancel my membership when I can call them tomorrow and may be contacting the state Attorney General's office as well.

They just charge me $38.30 for nothing, so what I am going to do is just cancel my card and get another one instead of going through calling them because the more i wait they might take out another one...so my thought is change you information at the bank it may cost a fee but that is better to pay that fee than to have them having access to you account information.....i hope this is a lesson for us all about this internet or calls that we have receive....''.TAKE IT EASY ANYTHING THAT IS EASY DO NOT TAKE IT''

I have never received a call from them, but they charged my card twice. It came up as BMC*BOMC. When I called to dispute the charges, they stated that my information was not in the system and to call back in a few days. If a transaction has posted on my card, you HAVE to have some type of information on me! I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me the same thing. IT IS A SCAM! DO NOT PICK UP THE PHONE! I have no idea how they got my information but it is very scary to have identity theft.

No call, but I did receive two boxes of books from them today.  This is very strange because I have NOT signed up for the club, nor has anybody else in my household...I have a Kindle and buy books electronically, why would I sign up for this club??  LOL  Since I have an account number on the invoice, I tried calling - but customer service was closed.  The recording so nicely provided an email address of "service@memberservice.com" and I have sent them an email, requesting information (date/time of signup, method of signup, IP address if applicable, etc.).  I hope to have some answers tomorrow.

Get with the bank for sure.  I got hit for $80.08 on August 2 of this year by BOMC.  I called them right then and the rep I spoke to stated it was for books I got back in 2009 from an old address I hadn't lived at for years and had never purchased books from them when I did live there.  Unfortunately, I had gotten an account with QPB (part of BOMC) back in 2010 for a series of books my husband wanted and 4 books for $.99 plus shipping was a good deal to get them.  I then promptly paid off the account by purchasing 3 more books at regular price ($10 each) to fulfill my commitment 2 months later in November 2010 when they were running a free shipping promotion which turned out very well with what I paid for 7 books.  I then canceled the account. They hit me 9 months later for a bogus BOMC account.  It took 3 months to permanently resolve my claim, but BOA gave me a temporary credit on August 4 as well as canceled my debit card and reissued a new one.  I then filled out a claim form the bank mailed and sent it back.  Today, I received a letter from the claims department stating that they had sided with me and that the temporary credit was now a permanent one.  I learned a valuable lesson though.  Watch who you give your debit card to online.  I only use PayPal and Amazon now.  Anything else that cannot be purchased through Amazon or a merchant that uses PayPal, I do without or write a check for it.  That is not happening to me again!  It's too bad you can't press charges for "stealing".  In essence, that is what BOMC does.  It's scary to come to these sites and see how many people have gone through what I did - 3 months of worrying if you will have to pay $80.08 for something you never received.

I Googled the phone number, ended up here, and called my bank directly.  They say that, though the phone number showed up on their transaction record, it showed up as a transaction at an un-named "sporting goods" store.  Their recommendation was, which I am doing, file a fraud claim through your bank, cancel your debit/credit card and replace it.  More than likely your information has been hacked from electronic records of a card transaction you've made, somewhere.  More than likely as the result of having electronic automatic billing/debiting transactions against your card.  They further suggest using a separate (and dedicated) card number and account to which you transfer funds for all electronic transactions, as opposed to having them bill directly against your main bank/card account.

I keep getting calls, the same as above from a fake payday loan.  They make threats against me.  I think something needs to be done to put a stop to these foreign people (which they are either from India, Pakistan, etc) from making such calls.  Tell them to get a real job and quit harassing innocent people.  I am a senior citizen and am outraged that they can get away with such.  Some innocents get sucked into this and end up paying money they do not have.  I had such a friend, another elderly woman, who was taken advantage of.  Quit harrassing the innocent!!!  They did not give name of company just Steve from an attorneys office.

They got your number through Teletrack.Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans Washington, D.C. December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office (202) 324-3691— filed under: Press Release The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started. The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers. Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt. If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller’s instructions. Rather, you should:■Notify your banking institutions.■Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.■Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.■File a complaint at www.IC3.gov. Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:■Never give your Social Security number—or personal information of any kind—over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact. ■Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.■Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.■Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.■Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.■When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statementshttp://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710

I received a call from this number from a man named Steve at first who said he was a paralegal and that I have a lawsuit pending against my social security number for a payday loan. He then transferred me to an Aaron Estrada who then said he was an attorney with American Law Department, he was very rude and very threatening, claiming that if I did not pay the money back I would go to jail. When I asked for proof of the debt he said that it was a paperless loan so there is no documentation. I told him to "F" off and hung up.

It's a representative from Geico.  When you are involved in an accident wtih a Geico insured (or if you are the insured), you are asked to complete surveys whenever you speak to an adjuster.  These surveys are basic questions like, " were you treated respectfully?", "was your claim handled quickly and fairly?", etc...When you fill out these surveys and give a less than stellar response, they have this rep call you to explain your experience further.  Nothing horrible, no one cold calling you.

Just to let you all know this caller ID is from your insurance carrier for most likely your auto insurance. They are calling you for one of a few reasons. Your insurance is expired and you need to re-up it, unless you have a new provider. You owe them money, a payment for their services. If you're on the "no call list" also known as the National Do Not Call Registry they can still call you because of a prior relationship.  So, answer your phone and re-up or let them know that you switched or pay your bill on time!

We keep telling them not to call back and that we will never give a cent to their organization but they keep calling back. I just got a call from this number and he left me a message because I did not answer the phone call because I did not recognize the phone number. He stated in the message that his name was Mark Meyers from Publishers Clearinghouse stating that I have a check from them that needed to be delivered to me. I tried calling the number back but of course it would not go through so I researched the number and found this complaint website. I know now why it would not go through since this is an International phone number. Glad that I took the time to research the number. Thank god for technology today. I never even signed up with Publishers Clearinghouse so it must be a scam!

I have received 3 phone call from this number in two days. This first call was at 10:30 p.m.   This man with a strong accent stated I had won some money and I hung up.  He immediately called back asking why I had hung up.  I hung up again.  Today, I listened to his whole commentary of how he was from Publishers Clearing House, he states he is a CEO and General Manager of American Cash Reward. He was instructing me to go to a Western Union and wire him $499.00 for my "delivery free".    He states hs name is Mark Meyers, although the caller ID has JM Kingston.  This is a very disturbing type of phone call as he is aggressive and calling at very inappropriate times of the night.  How can we stop this?

I get one call a day and all of the numbers come from the 876 exchange...Fredrick indicated he was with Publishers Clearinghouse, David indicated he was from UPS trying to drop off a package to John, and some others indicated they were with Global Award International and wanted to speak to John.  There have been so many but I could never understand their names, very strong accents.  It is obviously a scam when they ask for you name and address and indicate they have a prize or award to give out.  Make complaints to the FCC for every number that you get calls from.  The caller ID's indicate Caller Unkown or Cell Phone JM.  I now just pick up the phone and hit some numbers and hang up - they don't call back.

They hit me, too!  Last night at 8:15 p.m. (that's 9:15 p.m. their time since they are in PA) my account was hit for $97.00!  I was washing dishes - I wasn't shopping for books!  And I knew exactly when it happened because I have smart alerts - that's a text message sent to my cell phone any time money moves into or out of my bank account.  The nerve of these jerks!  What kind of book club charges $97?!!  Then I'm on hold for over 20 minutes first thing this morning and they actually got on the phone!  They're trying to tell me that I owe this from joining their club back in 2009!!  I've not received anything from them - no notifications or anything!  Supposedly there was some mystical email in July - which I've never seen.  I don't remember signing up for their club, but if I did, how can they expect their customers to buy anything if we don't have any contact info for them!  2 years and all I get is a damned email?!!  I reported my card stolen right away, and I've already called my bank and told them it is a fraudulent charge.  I should get the  money back within a week.
