I got (10) calls between 8:17am to 9:42am.  It was from an On-Line pharmacy trying to sell me some prescriptions.  When I finally answered, the calls stopped.  However, the person calling was a total %&^&))*&&%^$#$#^&).  (And that was her good side.)
Report by Lowlifes Long ago Unknown
The same number calls and they play something or say something stupid, so I found the 888 number listed here to contact them and tell them to take me off their list.  Some feminine sounding male with a foreign call center accent kept telling me my phone was breaking up and he couldn't hear the last four digits of the number, so I repeated it several times and finally got nasty with him and told him to stop messing around.  He started talking over me and telling me they can call anytime they want even if I'm on the do not call registry.  He said he doesn't care and he'll call me whenever he pleases and that's when I lit him up, threatening his company and him telling him I was going to hunt him down and break his knee caps, then come after his family next.  He sat there laughing and told me he was putting me on speaker phone so everyone could hear, so I told him that was fine because I was recording the call for the FTC.  I told him he was more of a woman than a man, then I threatened him some more and told him I was going to track him down in Wyoming.  He said he's not afraid, so I told him to make this a whole lot easier and give me his name, number, and address, so I could meet him like I promised, but he wouldn't give me anything, just sat laughing, so I just kept telling him that he should give me his s*** since he's not afraid.  He said 'I not dumb like you to give out my information' and then hung up.I have an air horn waiting by the phone for him...

The area code is that of a Wyoming number.  I have no clue what they want... they have called me several times over the past few months.  The only time I picked up I got no reply... and when I call the number all I get is the stupid "the subscriber you have reached is no longer in service" message.

If it's been awhile since you registered with the national do not call registry, it may be time to do it again. Also, ask your phone company which code to use to do a call trace. In IL it's *57 then after the 3rd time they are supposed to get in trouble.....

They asked me if anyone in my family has Diabetes!!  They call ten times a day even though I have asked them repeatedly to STOP!!!!
Report by rose Long ago Unknown
Yes I got a call yesterday.  I was annoyed and have told these grant places to never call my phone again.  But I have been getting "UNKNOWN" calls about six to seven times a day and this time back to back it came from this number.  I answered they said how are you. I said "What?" and they laughed.  I said what do you want?  and they asked for me, told them wrong number quit calling!  They said "wrong".  I called back the number and got a not in service number.  I guess I'll buy a whistle.  No other way I can figure since they are untraceable but this is blatant harrassment.

Got a call from this number stating I talked to them last week about a payday loan. I explained no I did not and to remove my number. He still argued stating that he spoke with me and blah...blah...blah" I told him to take my number off his list, and before he hung up he told me "shut up gay a$$ mother f*****" and when I tried calling back, of course the number says its disconnected...WTH is up with this company???

The reason they ask you to press 9 is if they think they are calling a business, usually 9 gets you and outside dial tone so they can hack your phone system and then make their illegal international calls.

One more thing, when I Googled the Diabetes Health Network, my computer froze up.  I couldn't get off their website and had to shut down my computer...so be careful!
Report by Julie Long ago Unknown
What's weird about this is that the guy who called told me it was the "Diabetes Health Network" and wanted to know if I had diabetes...as if it was any of his business.  I don't.  He hung up on me when I questioned him.Same phone number though as your "loan" call.  What's up with that...loans and diabetes clinic?  Interesting, but a few days ago, while on Facebook, I clicked on a link for diabetic recipes.  I have a friend with diabetes and wanted to get a recipe.  Boom!  I get a call from this "Network."  Must be tracing cookies or something...

The number shows on caller ID, but no name.  Claims they are calling about a lowering a credit cards interest rate.  Also says to press 9 to speak to someone, when you press 9 the call disconnects.  3rd time they have called

the 307 area code is in Wyoming, but when you get things like Vonage or Magic Jack, you can get a phone number with an area code from anywhere. It doesn't necessarily mean that the ppl that are calling are located in the area the area code is from... if that makes any sense. My friend had vonage and was using a number from a texas area code (512 i believe) and it always confused be because I thought it was my son's father calling him from texas and really it was my ex's best friend calling from the other side of town! Just thought i'd throw that out there!

OF COURSE THEY ARE - ALL GRANT OFFERS WHETHER BY PHONE OR INTERNET ARE SCAMS! from consumeraffairs.comGovernment Grant ScamsThe "free money" scam has been around almost as long as the human species. It has more variations than a bulldog has wrinkles but you can count on one thing: the government (any government) does not simply give money away to individuals. Anyone who tells you differently has larceny in his heart. If you give him your bank account number, he will soon have your funds in his pocket. It does no good to list all of the names used by these bunko artists because a.) they change all the time and b.) every single free-money government-grant offer is a scam. Period.http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2009/03/grant_scam_ads.htmlhttp://www.consumeraffairs.com/scam_alerts/grant.htmlhttp://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2009/03/ftc_stimulus_scam.html FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION WEBSITE      http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt134.shtm‘Free Government Grants’: Don’t Take Them For Grant-ed“Because you pay your income taxes on time, you have been awarded a free $12,500 government grant! To get your grant, simply give us your checking account information, and we will direct-deposit the grant into your bank account!” Sometimes, it’s an ad that claims you will qualify to receive a “free grant” to pay for education costs, home repairs, home business expenses, or unpaid bills. Other times, it’s a phone call supposedly from a “government” agency or some other organization with an official sounding name. In either case, the claim is the same: your application for a grant is guaranteed to be accepted, and you’ll never have to pay the money back. But the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, says that “money for nothing” grant offers usually are scams, whether you see them in your local paper or a national magazine, or hear about them on the phone. Some scam artists advertise “free grants” in the classifieds, inviting readers to call a toll-free number for more information. Others are more bold: they call you out of the blue. They lie about where they’re calling from, or they claim legitimacy using an official-sounding name like the “Federal Grants Administration.” They may ask you some basic questions to determine if you “qualify” to receive a grant. FTC attorneys say calls and come-ons for free money invariably are rip offs. Grant scammers generally follow a script: they congratulate you on your eligibility, then ask for your checking account information so they can “deposit your grant directly into your account,” or cover a one-time “processing fee.” The caller may even reassure you that you can get a refund if you’re not satisfied. In fact, you’ll never see the grant they promise; they will disappear with your money. The FTC says following a few basic rules can keep consumers from losing money to these “government grant” scams:     Don’t give out your bank account information to anyone you don’t know. Scammers pressure people to divulge their bank account information so that they can steal the money in the account. Always keep your bank account information confidential. Don’t share it unless you are familiar with the company and know why the information is necessary.     Don’t pay any money for a “free” government grant. If you have to pay money to claim a “free” government grant, it isn’t really free. A real government agency won’t ask you to pay a processing fee for a grant that you have already been awarded — or to pay for a list of grant-making institutions. The names of agencies and foundations that award grants are available for free at any public library or on the Internet. The only official access point for all federal grant-making agencies is www.grants.gov.     Look-alikes aren’t the real thing. Just because the caller says he’s from the “Federal Grants Administration” doesn’t mean that he is. There is no such government agency. Take a moment to check the blue pages in your telephone directory to bear out your hunch — or not.     Phone numbers can deceive. Some con artists use Internet technology to disguise their area code in caller ID systems. Although it may look like they’re calling from Washington, DC, they could be calling from anywhere in the world.     Take control of the calls you receive. If you want to reduce the number of telemarketing calls you receive, place your telephone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. To register online, visit www.donotcall.gov. To register by phone, call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236) from the phone number you wish to register.     File a complaint with the FTC. If you think you may have been a victim of a government grant scam, file a complaint with the FTC online at www.ftc.gov, or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. The FTC enters Internet, telemarketing, identity theft, and other fraud-related complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure online database available to hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad. The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint or to get free information on consumer issues, visit ftc.gov or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. The FTC enters consumer complaints into the Consumer Sentinel Network, a secure online database and investigative tool used by hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad. September 2006 Feds: Scammers Falsely "Guaranteed" Government GrantsCourt halts operators' deceptive pitches for grant writing book and servicesBy James Limbach ConsumerAffairs.comJuly 24, 2009 A federal judge has stopped an operation from falsely claiming that it could help consumers secure a "$25,000 Grant" -- guaranteed -- from the U.S. government. The case is part of a Federal Trade Commission crackdown on scammers trying to capitalize on the economic downturn by targeting people facing financial hardship. In the complaint the FTC, jointly with the attorneys general of Kansas, Minnesota, and North Carolina, charged that Grant Writers Institute, LLC and its related entities (together, GWI) falsely told consumers that they were eligible for grants as part of the recently announced economic stimulus package .According to the complaint, the false and deceptive claims by GWI violate federal law, state consumer protection laws, and the FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule. The complaint seeks a court order permanently stopping the defendants' illegal conduct and forcing them to return money to consumers injured by the scheme."Stamping out grant fraud and other types of schemes that take advantage of consumers in dire financial shape continues to be one of the Federal Trade Commission's highest priorities," said David Vladeck, Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection. "There is no such thing as a guaranteed grant. But to consumers in financial trouble, the chance for extra income -- guaranteed or otherwise -- can unfortunately be a huge draw."The FTC says since at least 2007, GWI has mass mailed postcards to consumers across the country falsely claiming that the consumers "are Guaranteed a $25,000 Grant from the U.S. Government." Consumers who call the number are pitched a $59 book titled "Professional Grant Writer 'The Definitive Guide to Grant Writing Success.'"The company's telemarketers falsely claim that the book will explain how to get government grants  -- including the "guaranteed" $25,000 grant. GWI and its North Carolina-based telemarketers, also named as defendants in the complaint, then call consumers who have bought the book, trying to get them to pay hundreds of dollars or more for grant research, writing, or coaching services, falsely claiming a 70 percent success rate in securing grant funding. In reality, few, if any consumers ever receive any grant money. The Commission contends that in addition to falsely claiming consumers were "guaranteed" to receive grants, GWI used the current government stimulus package to make its pitch. For example, when consumers called the number on the mass-mailed postcard, they heard a recording that said, "If you've been reading the papers you know that recently our government released $700 billion into the private sector. What you probably don't know is that there is another $300 billion that must be given away this year to people just like you."The recording continues, "And if you're one of the lucky few who knows how to find and apply for these grants, you will receive a check for $25,000 or more, and we guarantee it . . . If you don't get a check for $25,000 or more, you pay nothing."The following were named as defendants:• Affiliate Strategies, Inc.;• Landmark Publishing Group, LLC (d/b/a G.F. Institute and Grant Funding Institute);• Grant Writers Institute, LLC;• Answer Customers, LLC;• Apex Holdings International, LLC;• Brett Blackman, individually and as an officer, manager, and/or member of Affiliate Strategies, Inc., Landmark Publishing Group, LLC, Grant Writers Institute, LLC, Answer Customers, LLC, and Apex Holdings International, LLC;• Jordan Sevy, individually and as a manager of Landmark Publishing Group, LLC;• James Rulison, individually and as president of Answer Customers, LLC, all located in Kansas. The complaint also names the following North Carolina entities as defendants:• Real Estate Buyers Financial Network LLC (d/b/a Grant Writers Research Network);• Martin Nossov, individually and as a manager and member of Real Estate Buyers Financial Network LLC; and• Alicia Nossov, individually and as a manager and member of Real Estate Buyers Financial Network LLC.Read more: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2009/07 ... l#ixzz0NENGCoRV

They are calling us randomly - when we call back, they know our phone number is an actual #.  With the above information I call the 888-267-3707, and they admitted that they are connected with the 307-215-1002!  When I asked them to put me on the 'don't call list' they wanted my # & my NAME!  They want your name to sell it!  HELLO!! I said - you have my number, even if I called you, I know you can see my number you just want my name too!  He got really, really, nasty, said "You called ME!"  AHHHHHHHHHHHHH   ---   WEIRDOS fishing for your information!  If you get this call DO NOT ANSWER IT - DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!!   they are jerks!!

I got that b241 test message, too when I dialed that number. They call my cell-3 times today, a few minutes apart. No message, nothing. I called my cell carrier, they said sometimes it's telemarketers that pull like 100 phone numbers, and if you call that number, they know they have a hit. I'm going to watch my cell bill and make sure no one is making calls with my number. I like that whistle idea, but they just ring, and hang up when I say hello.  Don't know about anyone else, but I swear, in the last 6 to 9 mos, I have had a rash of weird phone calls. The crooks are on the loose.

If someone is calling from outside the U.S. ("foreign type"), they don't need to be concerned about the call. U.S. laws are for stuff in the U.S. Besides, it's so easy to use an internet-based phone company that just about anyone can run the calls through a foreign country or show a bogus name or number on the caller ID. Not to pick on them, but take a look at Vonage's commercials: Unlimited calls to over 60 countries for about $25/month. Add call forwarding and there's no way to tell for sure where the call came from, since foreign countries may have different laws or ignore calls to the U.S.---just more people employed in their country.
Report by po'd Long ago Unknown

Please stop calling people and telling them you have money for them.  No, they did not win money from a prize pool.  You are harassing people.  Now your number has been turned in and you have been reported.  This is not good for you.  Please stop calling the elderly people telling them they have won money if they send you money through the Western Union.  This is a scam.

Answered a call from this number just a minute ago. Caller ID says Cayman Islands (according to the google search of the area calling code). I answered, and heard the Intel jingle 3 times in quick succession, then the call disconnected. I'm really hoping this isn't some international scam or a cell phone hack, as I received the call on my mobile phone.

I feel Utilipro is a HOAX .... I tried to get help on my first call and was given the shaft.   They are telling me they don't cover Coil cleaning or unit replacement on a HVAC unit and I am furious.  Now they are trying to get me to honor a one year contract with them and won't allow me to cancel this bogus warranty.   I am now trying to reach the corporate office which I have a feeling will be a job but trust me, I will get it done.  Then I will just take my complaint to The Better Business Bureau and I would suggest anyone having trouble with this company to do the same.   I am so very SORRY I signed up for this nightmare but the representative gave one story and when its was time to provide a service on the FIRST call to them, it's a different story. .....   If you get an advertisement or call from Utilipro, Just Ignore !!!!

The "Do not call list" does not apply to companies that you do business with.  If you are a customer it is not illegal for them to call you like this.  From the government's website: I registered my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all calls?  NO. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all.  Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you've provided expressed agreement in writing to receive their calls.

To "Bobby"...for someone with A LOT (not, alot) of knowledge about how your phone scam works, why not help address the situation of unwanted calls? Not to be picky here, but YOUR spelling and grammar leads me to believe YOU'RE not too high up the food chain at Utilipro. Spell-check is free to use...MY phone-line and time at home isn't! There...I feel better!

I received a call from this number today.  They asked to speak to my husband and when I asked who is calling, they hung up.  I looked up the number online and found out that it is for a warranty company called Utilipro.  I called the number back and spoke to one of their "specialists" named Nate and explained the earlier call & hang-up from this number.  I also said that I would like my number to be removed from their call list.  Nate apologized for the inconvenience and said our number would be blocked and that the changes would take up to 48 hours to register.  We'll see what happens...

I currently work for Utilipro. The calling issues are due to predictive dialing systems used by the outbound agency in germany , The calls that are dropped are due to the timing set on the machines and they have been reset now to prevent that. Utilipro is a very successful company , it just takes on differant names in differant state. like in Michigan its called DTE's home protection plan , wich has been around since 1999, and has a customer base of over 700,000. The reason alot of you are receiving phone calls even though your on the national do not call list is due to a contractual agreement made either verbaly or in writing by you to one of Utilipro's affiliates to allow them to use your information for marketing purposes , read the fine print you'll find it somewhere.

Ga. Res. User,Glad to see I'm not the only one in love with these fine folks.  These clowns are, of course, skirting the DNC with an assertion of prior relationship because you are getting gas through AGL, even though your relationship is supposed to be with Scana, or Ga. Natural Gas, or (whoever).I think it is interesting that they apparently screwed up and solicited a non-customer, aka Prescott.[P.S. What happened to my buddy Ronald's OP, did the powers that be delete him for non-content?  Just wondering.]

Prescott & all, Atlanta Gas Light along with SCANA were the ones who kept charging their customers at an outrageously high rate even though they had stopped offering that plan to anyone new.  Not the good corporate citizens I want to deal with.  They were the ones who pushed through this deregulated mess that has Georgia paying more than the rest of the country for the same therms.  They also had their lobbyist sleeping with the house speaker to push through more of their schemes.

Appreciate the information from your web site.  Similar daily experiences for last two weeks from the number 866-300-5574.  No reply on pick-up, therefore unable to tell Utilipro.com to go away.  However, contacted Atlanta Gas Light via their Bombay call center and demanded to speak to Atlanta Gas Light home office call center.  The local girl was extremely helpful and acknowledged that Utilipro was "an affiliate."  She promised to contact marketing Dept. of Utilipro to lodge complaint and remove our phone number from their automated call list and report back in 24 hours. We are impressed, because we are not Atlanta Gas Light customer. Perhaps Atlanta Gas is avenue to use?

DaeMac,Report the calls to spam@uce.gov?  What are you smoking???  UCE stands for Unsolicited Commercial Email, are you getting phone calls by way of email?  BTW - stuff sent to that address just collects in a huge database and not much is done with it - currently my server automatically forwards about a thousand emails a day to them, so multiply that by all the servers on the Internet, and you will get the picture. The correct place to report PHONE CALLS is on the Do Not Call site, or sometimes to a state attorney general.  The Federal DNC is a toothless, unenforced joke, and widely ignored, but if reporting makes you feel better, please do so.  Maybe it will do some limited amount of good.

Once you register your number it will stop MOST of the telemarketing calls. it will not stop those telemarketers that refuse to obey the donotcall lawsthat is why the DONOTCALL.gov website has a File a complaint link.  YOU HAVE TO REPORT THEM - otherwise they cannot be stopped

Thank you for sharing Ronald.  Of course, if you have NOTHING to share, why bother ?  Couldn't you at least make the effort to fill out the form ?It took some work on my part, but it seems that this number belongs to some cheese-ball appliance warranty jerks (www.utilipro.com) affiliated with an even bigger bunch of jerks and low-lifes, Atlanta Gas Light.I hope that no one who uses this site (except maybe you-know-who) is dumb enough to fall for any sort of extended warranty scam (and they are ALL scams).  Especially one affiliated with the money grubbing half-wits at Atlanta (we hate consumers) Gas Light. When this number shows up on your caller id, grab your wallet, hold it close, and run away as fast as you can.  You have been warned.Of course, if your name is Ronald, you should answer the call and buy two of whatever they want to sell you.
