This number has been calling me several times a day, pretending to be ebay. I called eBay support twice and both reps told me that it was NOT legit ebay number and advised that I report it. It is against eBay policy to call ebay users unless there is a problem! I filed a complaint with FCC and Do Not Call!Afterwards this number called me again and her name was Stacy and she said she was calling "ON BEHALF OF EBAY" and when I told her that I reported the number she was calling from to ebay and FCC and Do Not Call, she hung up!People do not be fooled!! It is not a legit phone number! First they gain your trust with tips and then start getting into your personal info! Ebay never calls anyone, specially several times a day!!Yes, it does say how to change settings if you call it back, but I did not have those settings that way in the first place!!

I just recieved a call from this number a couple of minutes ago and I picked up. The voice was crackly enough that I couldn't even understand who it was or what they were calling about (it sounded like they were disguising their voice) so I hung up and searched the number more out of curiosity than anything. What makes me really skeptical is that I am using my dad's ebay account and I never gave paypal or ebay my phone number, they only have my dad's, so I have reason to believe that this is fraud.

I had received a few calls from this number over an 8 day period, with no messages left. Finally, I was home when they called yesterday, and the man said he was from eBay, and he was giving me a courtesy call to tell me my account could be suspended for Duplicate listings. I asked him which of my accounts was in question, and he did name one of my accounts. I asked him for specific examples and he stated he could not provide that level of detail on this courtesy call. Long and short, I pressed him for answers and he hung up on me. I called ebay customer support, who stated this was not a legit number from eBay. But he queried the number and based his statement on this internet listing.Like other ebayers listed below, I HAVE received calls from this phone number in Utah call center before, advising me of new features and how to improve sales. eBay is not always the most forthright, honest or divulgent company. I have caught them on several occasions over the years providing, incorrect or false info. I believe it was eBay.

Actually, that's not true.  It's true if you have little to no volume of sales.  Ebay wouldn't waste their time and call a person who sells less than $1000 annually.  When I hardly sold anything, I got this call once or twice a year.  WHen my sales went to $250/month, I got it once a month. Now that I sell over $30,000 year, I get this call weekly.  If you notice, lately it is hard to contact eBay directly especially if you're not a powerseller, thru email.  They have reduced their customer reps who answer emails to.  If you're not a powerseller, you have to wait in long lines to get to a live person, and most ebayers can't wait 60-120 minutes to have a simple answer to a basic question. The explaination I was given from my powerseller rep (who also confirms this is a legit number and call) is that more than 90% of the issues and questions being sent it, the answers could be found in under 5 minutes of research using the Ebay Help system.  Sadly, unless you do a lot of volume in your sales, they make it hard to contact someone to help you.It is an Ebay call center in Utah.  I maynot be listed under "eBay" as the owner of the number, but by a company that eBay contracts to make calls on their behalf.  If you call HP support on the 800 number, your call isnt sent to anywhere near their HQ.  It used to send you to Canada 6 years ago.  Now most likely your call will be "Tom from Kansas City", but with a disctinct Indian accent.  It's a US number, but the call center is in India, so the actual location of hte call center is moot.  Have a MN phone number, but It's only takes 1 phonecall to get the calls forwarded to any number outside MN.  the location of the area code on the number is worthless info.Ebay's policy is not to hand out phone numbers to it's customers, unless it's absolutely needed, and then only for certain issues.  It's always the best advice to not answer a phone call if you don't know where it's from, but then again, you can always hang up.

Either way you look at this phone call we have been getting. The fact remains phone call solicitations are bad news these days. As my Bank, my Police Dept, My Ebay legit messages puts it: you simply do not give information over the phone and a knock at your door unless you are 100% certain who they are and what do they want. When a person on the other end of the phone calls me and asked my name I know they do not have it (well that is good advice to assume). Should this be a legit call ebay should change there business model. We have all had messages from ebay stating not to give information except on the ebay webpage and you know that is legit.

ebay is like any other major company...have you ever heard of outsourcing?  This is when  a company hires call centers to do their promoting for them.  Therefore they don't always do their own solicitations.  However, ebay also has a rep for their sellers.  The name of my ebay rep is Ron.  I am sure I am on several of their lists because I have received calls on various different things but there is not a single one that has asked me for any personal information, password, pin etc.  How is it a scam or fraud if they aren't asking for any personal information?  They'd have to get your information in order to do something...hhmmmm imagine that!!   It may be a nuisance to you that you are receiving a solicitation call or a customer service call (trying to assist you or inform you of ebay information) since you are a registered ebay user, but that doesn't constitute fraud or scam!!!  They have the right to call you because you came to them and asked to open an account, again...hhmmm imagine that!!  Any company that you have done business with in the past year has a legal right to contact you.  If you have done business with ebay in the past year they have a right to call you.  If you are a business there is no do not call list there are only do not call lists for residences.  Don't be so blindsighted by fear (of a phone call that you CAN hang up on) that you lose an opportunity to increase your ebay sales or a free listing day, or a number of things the call is trying to inform you of ...so silly to be an ostrich with your head in the ground - reminds me of the Salem Witch Trials....OMG EBay called you!!!!!!!....it's a scam, it's fruad---- omg you're the one calling me...let's burn them at the stake and call them scams and fraud for trying to build their business and yours.  seriously how ridiculous!!!!

Not true!  I've sold on eBay for 13 years and have been called several times by legitimate eBay employees to see if I was interested in selling tips, etc.  They have also called when they are running a special rate for certain listing features.  They don't call every seller, but they do call, particularly if you are a power seller.

This number is Ebay and when you call it it tells you they call to give information to members. There is no further action required if you receive a call from this number. For example they may call to give suggestions to their "Top Rated Sellers". I usually hang up on them even though I am such a seller.

Why would they call you to say a fraud case had been resolved instead of just sending you an email????  And it is possible that if your computer was violated in some way, someone might know about your fraud case.  But, if it really is resolved, why call, unless to gain your trust for the future. And, to the others who like these calls, why would eBay want to become a telemarketer like so many annoyance calls.  Do they think people like being called???I got one call a few days ago and no message left.

I got a call today that left a message about ebay...however i do have an ebay store.  i did just reach my power seller level a few days ago and on my sellers page it tells me i need to call to discuss increasing my selling limits, etc. This is not a scam.  The reason it is not a scam is because it is not asking you for any information.  The message was just informative, letting me know of specials for ebay stores on listing prices etc.  Everything directed me to ebay.com (my ebay or manage my store).  Nothing asked me to call anyone or what my credit card info was or anything about my sales figures...just told me to go to ebay.com and look under selling tools and a couple other things.  Also there actually IS a real number to contact ebay.  It took awhile to find it but I found it under resolve an issue.  Don't know if you can find it if you don't have an active item or not.  I have called ebay and talked to them in December and they also help with paypal.  (I had an issue with a refund that had not been paid) Of course you have to verify yourself to ebay for your account.  If you want to call ebay they have a phone number but you have to contact them online first to get a pin code and that pin number is only good for 15 mins.  Always best to be cautious though...soo many scams out there but this one is actually legit.

This is not a scam. If you call the number back, they explain it is just a courtesy call that ebay makes to different users. The message goes on to explain that there is no concern with your account, and tells you how to change your personal settings to no longer receive the automated calls.

(its actually ebay people. for REAL) but heres an Idea folks, when you get a phone call, answer it, if you dont like what you hear, hang up. That simple. If you NEVER want to hear from them again, tell them to remove you from your list, and if they dont you will report them to that national call center thing. (My bad for not knowing what its called, nor having the patience to look it up after reading so many useless comments) But I think most of you know what i am talking about,. No offense of course......

gaboy replies to KreationsByKat8 Feb 2012Ebay knows there' s lots of scams out there wright? why the not communicating this trough emails  like when let you know is time to pay your fees?-------...because everyone knows there are so many fewer email scams than phone scams, right?Do people even think before they post?-eBay calls their members, mostly sellers, and especially PowerSellers (like me).-if you are not getting calls, and are a PowerSeller, chances are you opted out (like, the first time they called you and you said "don't call me again" because you were paranoid that it was not really eBay)-this is the number that they have been calling from for several years-how would they know your eBay ID, name, AND phone number to call you and identify you by name and eBay ID?-i don't have to "prove" anything, when the burden of proof required is not that this is legitimate, but that it is not.  In other words, all you paranoid people should call the number back, or contact eBay (whereupon you will be given a PIN number and phone number to contact eBay with - it isn't public without a request so that it will not be constantly phished - a protection for YOU, so you don't get scammed).

Feel free to copy and paste this from an anonymous e-mail address to e-mail your warning to them:My name is xxxxx at xxx-xxx-xxxx. (Real name and number was given to them.) You have called my home repeatedly with automated messages. Your messages, that often are left on my answering machine, claim that you are a collection agency. You do not identify whom you represent, and through your automated methods, are circumventing my opportunity to warn you about the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act.  Since you have been harassing me for months, using circumvention, I am warning you now. You are not to call my home for ANY reason. If you do, I will alert your State Attorney General to your tactics.  S/he will receive a link to this website, http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-900-1380#pdJBhBsywLgDXogjLKhxjSQ that attests to your tactics as described by multiple victims.  I speak for them as well as myself. You are on notice, as of the reception of this message, that further telephonic contact will be reported to your SAG. The big problem with this caller is that I answer the phone all the time and there is no one there.  I have no problem with them trying to collect a legitimate debt from someone, and am sure it isn't mine, but I want to know what debt it is and whose debt it is.   Another reason I answer is to inform them, if there is actually anyone on the line,  that I don't want to receive any more calls from them and furthermore that I recently purchased a dandy little item called a Screecher and the next live person who calls from their company will probably lose the hearing in one ear.  I know that would be illegal, but wouldn't it be great to get this whole thing out in court for everyone to see how these firms work, and I'm sure if there are any members of the jury who receive these types of calls I will be acquitted.

As a debt collector, I was curious as to what was said about collectors on the internet. You do NOT tell a company you want to cease communication, companies want it in writing."CEASING COMMUNICATION.  If a consumer notifies a debt collector in writing that the consumer refuses to pay a debt or that the consumer wishes the debt collector to cease further communication with the consumer, the debt collector shall not communicate further with the consumer with respect to such debt, except—(1) to advise the consumer that the debt collector’s further efforts are being terminated; (2) to notify the consumer that the debt collector or creditor may invoke specified remedies which are ordinarily invoked by such debt collector or creditor;" I know this because not only do I know the law, I was tested on it MULTIPLE times. Also, if we DON'T KNOW that we're contacting a family member, how are we supposed to stop? As far as we know, we're contacting the debtor. A tip for a debtor: We're only allowed to have contact (this includes knowing we're talking to the correct person by verifying a name plus another form of identification) once every three (or five?) days. We work on an automatic dialer and the dialer does that sort of work.

@Trying, You're obviously a very responsible person. I am not. If things don't go well for me, I don't pay, simple as that. I'm not going to hurt for them! And I don't lose any sleep over it or even allow myself to get upset. The primary money grubber doesn't give a damn about me and the scum sucking collection jackals for sure couldn't care less about my situation and what I have to go through. So I don't give a damn about them either or give them a second thought.  I am their worst nightmare. They can only get a hook into your flesh if you care. If you care, you are vulnerable to their BS. I do not. I screen all calls and don't even waste my time answering and being manipulated by these low-lifes. This is their problem having the job that they do. They are probably paying a stiff karmic debt themselves...  :) If they sue me, I fight them with free legal aid. If they win, I still will not pay. When I get back on my feet, I will pay legitimate creditors but I never pay Debt Collectors- ever. They are Vultures with blood all over their faces and I will not dignify their existence with a single cent of my money. You are a good person, 'Trying’. Don't feel guilty and don't get upset. It is a weakness and makes you vulnerable to the parasites. Just know in truth that you are better than you even think you are, do your best, then just forget about these bastages. The best defense is to simply ignore them... :)

Absolutely. You need to get a consumer law attorney and sue them for repeatedly ignoring your requests to validate the debt:Section 809(a) requires a collector, within 5 days of the first communication, to provide the consumer a written notice (if not provided in that communication) containing (1) the amount of the debt and--(2) the name of the creditor, along with a statement that he will (3) assume the debt's validity unless the consumer disputes it within 30 days, (4) send a verification or copy of the judgment if the consumer timely disputes the debt, and --(5) identify the original creditor upon written request. http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/rules/validating-debts-9.html#1

This one particular company 800-900-1380 calls me PERIODICALLY. My wife and I are listed in the phone book as "D and M LastName". Well this credit company, and I'm sure others, see this and fish for someone they have a debt on, because I get calls from them asking for a MELISSA Lastname, or MARK LastName...neither of which are my wife or I. So clearly NOBODY gave them the number, they are on a fishing expedition.

These businesses like credit companies all use other family members info to try to track you down. They will even try contacting an ex spouse, children, moms, dads, grandparents, neighbors or anyone else they think will give them the info they are looking for. They will use 'find anyone' companies and give any and all info they currently know or have on you. Even though you might have been divorced for decades........they still have your name also and probably think you might still know how to reach the ex or know the whereabouts of them. These companies are like the IRS; if someone says you died; they'll hire someone to dig your grave up and do DNA to prove it. Not joking either.

I have to disagree with your comment stating the collection agency wouldn't be calling unless the person they are trying to contact gave you the number. I've had a collection agency (not this one) call my ex-husband who I've been divorced from for over 20yrs insisting I lived there. Not only did I not give them that number, but he had only been living in that state for a couple of years.

I am a collection agent and have been on the receiving end of collection calls so I'm not judging anyone, I understand times get hard but as far as the Fair Credit Reporting Act, that has nothing to do with demanding that someone stop calling you. If you are going to give advise to people about how to handle their debt or people calling about debt at least reference back to the correct guidelines which would be the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or FDCPA. And you do have the right to request that someone stop calling you, but you do have to follow any verbal request to cease calls in writing within 10 days of the verbal request and I would suggest mailing with return receipt requested. AND FOR ANYONE THAT WANTS TO SAY I WORK FOR THE COMPANY CALLING, I DON'T AND NEVER HAVE. I WORK IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STATE FOR A TOTALLY UNRELATED COMPANY BUT 800-900-1380 CALLED OUR OFFICE NUMBER LOOKING FOR SOMEONE THAT APPARENTLY USE TO HAVE THIS NUMBER. Don't get rude with someone from a collection agency calling if it's a wrong number, it's not our fault, we were given the number by the person we are trying to contact and chances are if one agency was given the wrong number, several agencies were so don't assume that just because you tell an agency that the number no longer belongs to John Doe that every other agency should automatically know.

You are WRONG. Disney sent me one time a bunch of stupid figurines of Disney characters in a box that I have never ever ordered from before. I TOLD THEM I HAVE NO CHILDREN; NO GRANDCHILDREN & NEVER ORDERED THESE ITEMS. Then, I told them if they wanted them back they can pay all postage, handling fees from ME for my time packaging them back up and my tape usage or send someone out to personally pick them up. WHY would I order this trash? They couldn't verify my order of these items and chose to "allow me to keep them instead" at which point I threw them in the trash. So don't tell me this sort of quirky stupid sales tactic doesn't happen. Yellow Pages online took it upon themselves 5 years ago to put our business on their listing and then had the audacity to send me a bill! I called them, argued with salesman, which said he had someone from our company on tape that subscribed. I said Really? Who is it? And I demanded to hear the tape. He then stuttered n stammered; then got his supervisor who then 'pretended' to be working on getting the tape............. tic tic tic moments later....... apologies couldn't find the 'mysterious' tape at which point I declared to the embecile that considering my husband & I were the ONLY two employees of our company..........................you, sir, are a very poor LIAR and if I receive ONE more call/memo/letter or WORD from you, I will contact the state Attorney General's office at which time you shall be sued, fined and possibly lose your license to operate in this state and I might add my state has the most 'aggressive' anti-business guy in the country serving this position.  ........ silence....................click............................haven't heard a peep since!!!

Many moons ago, X sent me a book that I did not order with an invoice. I called and yelled at them, they said they'd gotten my name from Business Week magazine (that I had a subscription to then) as a sales lead and arranged return shipment directly from my home after I told them I was keeping it (the law says unsolicited shipments are free gifts) if I had to lift a finger or pay a penny to return it. And the book seller was a legit business. 800notes is rife with complaints of scammers offering freebies to businesses like a dozen pens to try, ship like a 100 dozen of them followed by an invoice and claim the business had ordered them. You need to get out of your whiz cage and live in the real world for a change.

I think the state laws of the person who received the call would most likely apply on the subject of recorded phone calls. I say this because I think if a person would file a lawsuit, it would be filed in the state of residence of the person who received a call, not necessarily in Pen. In the state I live in, Georgia, as long as one person has knowledge of the recorded call, the recording is admissible in court. I don't the full ins and outs of this, but I think this may be the case. I'm not being critical but just offering a different perspective that could apply. I encourage everyone to look up the laws of their state regarding this. The individual;s attorney general's office would be a good place to start.

"You say they block their number. How did you get to this page then."I think blkcatmail meant that they block their name (I got "Not Provided" when they called me just a few minutes ago, and I came here through Google, looking up the number). When they call, if you pick up, do what Dee Dee says, BUT tell them that they need to only contact you in writing (there are some protections for companies that are just told to stop calling, without having other ways to communicate). It's a very good idea to send a letter (by certified mail, with receipt requested) stating that you want them to only contact you in writing - and, no, email doesn't count.THEN, once you have proof that they've received the letter, if they continue to call, they are in violation of the FDCPA; and you can go ahead and report them to their State Attorney General's Office. If you don't send the letter, they can always claim that you never told them to stop calling. Any judge might be inclined not to believe them, but you'd have no proof to say they were lying, so they could still get away with it.BTW - if anyone is thinking of recording their phone calls with Penn Credit, Pennsylvania requires all parties in the conversation know that a recording is being made, UNLESS a party does something illegal in that conversation. So, go ahead and record, but keep in mind that you probably won't be able to use that recording(s) unless they commit an illegal act while you're talking.

I've been getting calls from these clowns, too. I get the same computer messages (that are hilarious when the "computer" says my full name). OK, Folks. There are laws against this and I am a consumer advocate. Now here this ~ whether you owe money or not, is totally irrelevant. Please look up the Fair Credit Reporting Act which will tell you that if you tell the collector to never call back again because of the FCRA, that they are in violation of the Law. Then threaten to contact their State Attorney General's Office in PA. By law, they are allowed to contact you one more time, offering a final settlement. Don't accept a settlement. Don't waste your time by arguing over money. Simply follow through with your threat. Warn them for the last time, then immediately contact the SAG in PA. Most SAGs can be contacted via e-mail. Attach a link for him/her to this site. Penn has probably already violated the law with their calling methods. They are trying to circumvent knowledgeable consumer warnings. This is the solution and you must follow through with the SAG. I have used this Law before and my state's SAG came down hard on the creditor, who expressed a threat (also against FCRA). Fortunately, I was the spouse of a deadbeat. I wasn't the deadbeat. Anyway, you can use this with any collector. Keep in mind that many of these calls may be scams. In this sucking economy, con artists are crawling out of the woodwork. Remember that with any collector you must contact the SAG in THEIR state.

The other thing collection companies do is what is called a "reverse lookup".  Debt collectors look at old addresses and do a reverse lookup for the address and then call any telephone number associated with the address: even if the phone number has belonged to someone else for ten years!  (I know; I'm that person who gets the calls.)  Another thing debt collectors do is simply call any telephone number ever associated with the person who allegedly has a debt to see if there is a response and if the alleged debtor has returned to the number.  I have lived in this house for over ten years; I have had the same telephone number for fifteen years; I have had the same cell number since my first cell phone purchase; I still get calls for the same people who may have once lived in my house because my phone numbers are tied into the address.Last week, my neighbors were called to see if perchance one of them could get me to call back because the call was urgent.  My neighbor informed the caller that no such person had lived at that address for years.  We are still getting the calls.

I know this is an old posting, but under the FDCPA a bill collector can not reveal information to anyone but the person who they are trying to reach. That is why the message will tell you not to listen or to hang up. The collection agency is covering their butt in case they reach a wrong person who does listen to the message. Bill collectors who "claim" to be decent, hardworking individuals just doing their jobs will find people with the same last name as yours in your area and hound them with phone calls hoping they will eventually reach the person the are looking for. Research the law and fight back at these people. If you are the wrong person, tell them not to call you again and if they continue to do so, document the calls and sue them. You can win a judgement of $1000 for harassment due to violating the rules of the Fair Debt Collection Protection Act.

The Do-Not-Call registry is a farce.  I have repeatedly reported the same company with the same number and the same human caller, and nothing has been done about it.  For over six months, I have received calls regarding lowering my credit card interest rates: I have no credit cards (thanks to Bill).  The Do-Not-Call registry is a waste of time and so is reporting it to its parent agency.  As for Penn Credit, I was called at 2045 hours on a Sunday.  That, to me, is intrusive.  I had no way to call back at the time as the recording says to call back during normal business hours.  So, how does one call back during normal business hours when its obvious that the company does not keep normal business hours.

And even then, don't provide your banking information over the phone.

I am a 10 year eBay employee. All eBay employees in the (801) area code of Salt Lake City have numbers ranging from 545-1801 to 545-2700. When an employee calls outbound the system masks their direct extension behind the (801) 545-1800 number. If you call (801) 545-1888, you'll get a company number. It's real people, calm down...

You have the right to contact unknowledgeable consumers if lawful; however, I am not one of those unknowledgeable consumers. You are on notice, as of the reception of this message, that further telephonic contact will be reported to your SAG. S/he will receive my written complaint, a copy of this notice and a link to the aforementioned website as evidence.Cease and desist or further action will be taken.

Here I am again adding to the comment I just made about the FCRA...Penn has a site ~  E-mail them at inquiries@penncredit.com...Follow my instructions about the FCRA threat. Go ahead and leave the name they address you by and your phone number so they know who you are. I suggest you use www.nowmymail.com from which to send your message. On that site you can sign up for a temporary e-mail address so you won't get return mail from Penn. Threaten them with their State Attorney General, then have a nice day!

But when a collector keeps calling for someone that does not live at your address and you don't even know, it is harrassment on their part. And even when it is a bs call that should not be made because the number is on and has been on the Do Not Call registry for many yrs. So when I tell them that they need to stop calling for those reasons and they keep calling anyway, I will report them for harrassment.

I've told 2 companies that I haven't been able to work for 2 years due to progressive health problems still not under control and have since applied to disability and that I was NOT trying to get out of paying my debts but just have to wait until receive disability and actually have a pay check or disability check to make any payments. It's really hard with only hubby's paycheck with a pay cut to keep his job to pay everything. They still keep calling and harrassing. I told them what do you think you can get out of 'nothing?' I have sold everything I can sell to pay off some debts and still have 2 left. Those 2 will just have to wait. I have a hearing coming up on ss and no, I am not one of those deadbeats who won't work; I have worked since I was 13 years old and buying my own school clothes/stereo equip/and other personal items. I have paid into ss all my life. They just don't 'get it.' I finally told them, you'll have to wait until I hear from ss or sue me. If you sue me, you will get nothing. There's nothing left to get. THIS is harrassment. They can check with drs and the ss to see I am NOT lying about any of this, so why do they continue? ONE day THEY themselves will see hardship and they will get theirs.

OMG - this is the same problem I am have from this same number: 800-900-1380. a year os so ago they would call 2-3 times a day. Answered 1 time and they asked if this was (last name) residence - I said yes how can I help you. They said the were looking for Betty or Richard (last name). I told them there is no one living here by that name and asked them to stop calling. Then all of a sudden we are getting calls from the same number - 800-900-1380-  for the same reason looking for a Karen (last name). Again - no and please stop calling this number. It wasnt 15 mins later they called again. I believe they get all the last names from the national directory and just start calling numbers with the same last name in a given area  looking for a specific person. How do we stop this insidious harassment? It seems to be a lot from the same number.

@collector who said: "Don't get rude with someone from a collection agency calling if it's a wrong number, it's not our fault, we were given the number by the person we are trying to contact" Utter BS.

I agree with the Gran on the go's post.  At 8pm I'm spending time with my family.  I, out of that normal curiosity, called them back, got a cheesy, (yes, I'm from Wisconsin), muzak music and someone finally came on the line and greeted me as Penn whatever...I asked her to repeat it and she did..I asked what the call was regarding, she said 'we handle personal business matters, please hold one moment Ma'am', sounded like she put me on hold when indeed she ended the call...I was a little irritated.  I called back to ask them to 'take my name off your list'  (which is ALL you have to say, and by law they HAVE to), but no one would pick up...the call just dropped so I can only assume they have caller ID.  I'll get 'em.  When an unwanted caller calls you for soliciting of any sort just do as I mentioned above and also get your numbers on the do-not-call lists...it really does help..Happy New Year Everyone!

If I am reading Linda Malone's message correctly, she is not talking about THE phone company, but the company calling her and leaving the voicemail message that is disturbing to her. I don't blame her. Just the curiosity factor alone would make the recipient want to find out who in the heck is calling their number.

WHAT are you talking about?  She/He said, that Penn Corp has NO right to tell them to hang up the phone.  YOU are MORE THAN WRONG!  My guess is that you work as a lowlife collector & want people to feel intimidated by your worthless post.

The phone company does in fact have the right to dictate how the service they provide you is handled.  This includes but is not limited to saying, you can't call a specific number.

I keep getting automated phone calls asking me to identify myself after a brief moment of silence the caller will say by listening you will agree that listening to the message you are the person in question, and if not hangup now. I pay the phone bill, the company has no rights to tell me when to hang up the phone!. I don't want any phone calls I don't do business like that, everything I do is in writing.

Received a call asking for Erin (my wife) but when I called back they wanted to verify that this was Alex (me) calling them back.  Why would they leave a message for Erin and expect Alex to call them back?  I looked further into this and there have been numerous complaints about this company calling and harassing people for piddly amounts of money, usually under ninety dollars
