Yes it is a scam.....No,  it is not just directed to people in their 70s or any other particular age group.  It is Jamaican scammers.  They don't want you to talk to anyone because this Scam is so old and wide open now,  they're afraid someone will tell you that it is a scam.   I don't understand why elderly people are thought of as being dumb any more.  Almost treated like children...

I got a call from "Tom Richman" informing me I'd won $2 million and a 2013 Mercedes Benz from Better Homes and Gardens. He instructed me to go to Walgreens and purchase a $500 Green Dot Money Pak Scratch card and he would call me back. He told me not to ask anyone questions and to keep my prize a secret. He gave me two phone numbers. The first, 876-571-1150 and the second, 717-435-7006. I kept asking for a website or some proof that I could confirm this was real and he couldn't give me any information. He told me to go to a town about 45 minutes from here to claim my prize and he would escort me to my bank to deposit the check. He asked me to describe my car and my clothing. CREEPY!I think this scam is directed toward people in their 70s as the scammers think that age group will be more likely to participate.

I just received a call from a man that said his name was Tom Parker with the Publisher's Clearing House.  The number also had an (876) area code.  He told me that I had won $950,000 from the Publisher's Clearing House but I must go to Walmart and purchase a green money pack scratch card for $299 and call him back as soon as possible.  I took the time to research and found so many similar articles.  Thanks for the advice.  They told me that the IRS had already witheld taxes from the money in my name and I could cash it at any US Bank today.  I tried to contact the IRS for verification but coincedently it is a holiday and both the IRS and the bank are closed.

I received a call from 876-430-2051 and a gentleman (?) said that I needed to go to an ATM machine to draw out $300 since I did not have it on me and purchase a green.moneypack scratch card.  He said that UPS would come by to my home at 8:15 pm since I told him that I would be at Church at 5pm when UPS was scheduled to come by.  He then said that I needed to go to the nearest Wal-Mart to claim the $250,000 that I had just won.  The Spirit of the Lord told me that this is all a scam and to bind the spirit of deception and theft; I immediately hung up.  It is a good thing that I live in a secured condominium.

3AM in Honolulu, I got a call from a "Mr Anderson" who said I had been chosen to win $ 85 million dollars and a new Mercedes Benz. He said I needed to go to Walmart and pick up a "Money pack scratch card" immediately, and call him back at 876-3235016 and give him the # on the card. He said this card, that I've never heard of before, could be obtained from anyone working at Walmart. . He spoke with a heavy foreign accent which I thought sounded Hindu Indian or Pakistani. He seemed oblivious to that he was calling at 3AM HST. He said it was 7:30 AM where he was calling from. Evidently unfamiliar with the concept of time zones, or he wanted to catch someone off balance in their drowsiness. He also couldn't/wouldn't give any web address. He kept saying I had to do as he asked me, or his boss would fire him. He said Fed Ex, or somebody like that would come by with the winnings for a contest I never heard of. I suspected scam within seconds of answering the phone. I was waiting for him to ask for info he could use to steal my identity or empty out my bank account. He did not ask of this. He knew my 1st name, and obviously my home phone #. I asked him where he got these. He said from the US gov't. I asked how. He was fuzzy, but seemed to imply that the US govt was somehow going to give me this unsolicited "prize winning". He wanted to know when to call back to get that #. I told him in 12 hrs. When he calls, if I'm here, I mayl answer, say excuse me, and set the phone down until it makes a sound that it needs to be hung up. Also, I'll report this to the local phone co to be on the lookout for 3rd party calls from Jamaica charged to my #.

I have repeatedly gotten phone calls in the day and in the evening up to 10:00 p.m. on both my business and personal phones from this phoney charity.  Obviously, I asked not to be called back and was given snippy remarks from a very rude person who seemed to have all the back answers.  I have reported them several times to the "Do Not Call" complaint website, but they still keep calling.  I have also called back and gotten no answer.  If I wasn't so busy, I would certainly fix them by reporting it to whomever will finally give them what is due them.Such a terrible annoyance and I believe what comes around, goes around!!

Yup, as soon as I answered - they hung up.  I repeatedly tried to call the number back, and it was consistantly busy.  I very rarely answer unless I know who's calling.  Aargh.Wait!  I just tried calling again and it's ringing...  No answer.  No surprise.  So, after innumerable rings I was ready to hang up but someone tried to dial out (I heard the autodial numbers) and when I said "Helloooo." he asked to speak to the next person on the list that he just called.  He identified the number as "a fundraising center."

Call Display says "TeleSales Inc." - it is an auto-dialer; my system cuts it off.  However they keep calling, even though am on Canada's Do Not Call Registry.  Also using:647-439-0319416-916-5850*69 on last call verified the number used, so may be legit company; but these are Toronto area codes - so they are not complying with the Do Not Call Registry.  I have not done business with them, they have no reason to call.  File the complaint.

Robocall."This is Ken.   (long pause)    "Hi, this is Ken.  I'm a Bob Proctor trained life success coach, former corporate CEO and grass roots entrepreneur.  This isn't about MLM, network marketing or any of the other usual suspects.  It's about a proven, time-tested system that can help you increase your cash flow, and it has been successful for 9 years straight.  If you're serious about your financial future, go to (his website dot com) for free, instant access to all the details, or press 1 now, or call back.  Have a great day - fill it with success."Not sure how this tool got my cell phone number but I am on the DNC list.  I tried to call him back to let him know, unfortunately it instantly goes to another pre-recorded blather.

At 8:37,8:38, 8:39, and 8:41 on 11/08/11, a "process server" calling herself Stacy Miller called from 208-656-4563 saying she was supposed to serve me with papers and I needed to call 877-815-2280 to prevent being served. I called the number and the first person who answered spoke with a heavy foreign accent. He transferred me to someone else. She informed me that I owed $715 on a old payday loan from a DJR group. I could pay right then and she would call off the process server. I was told if I didn't pay, I would be charged with bank fraud and check fraud. I told her I paid DJR group and she told me to call back with an account number. I did call back with an account number and she said it was not a match and I owed the money. I told her what she was doing was illegal and she said she doesn't know the law and I could get served or pay. I kept insisting she was acting illegally and she finally hung up on me. Stacy Miller called back an hour later asking if I had resolve my issue. I informed her the debt was not mine and tht I called the attorney general's office. She immediately hung up on me.
