I wish financial aid WOULD call me.  They owe me $825 for the last month and will not answer my calls and keep giving me the runaround on email.
Report by Beckie Long ago Unknown
I get calls from them too, but that's because I owe them money. Pay what you owe them, talk to your academic advisor and your financial aid advisor and get your situation straightened out. Kaplan doesn't do the work for you...you have to do it. I've been going to school there now for three years and the only time they call me is when I've forgotten to send something in. And they've always been quick to fix it. Financial Aid isn't an easy thing to apply for, nor should it be.
Report by Laken M. Long ago Unknown
I am also getting these phone calls and I quit going to that school over a month ago. I also have sent them the documents they wanted at least 8 times and they say their either not in their system yet or they have not gotten them yet. I am sick of it too and they call me like 7 times a day and I even have their calls on my missed call log on my cell phone. they have called me 63 times in the past months. I have talked to countless people about it over the phone at their office and none of them can give me a straight answer about it. They want my father's fasfa signature and they want my dependant documents signed and turned in and I have faxed them emailed them and even went to the post office and mailed them and they never seem to get them. They need to get their stuff straight or me and my father will be sueing.

I picked up the phone after the 50th time they called me. It is an calling service for Kaplan University. Kaplan contracted this company out to tell people to call their advisors or to call the business office. The company as you've noticed does not leave messages and will call you until the end of time. Just pick up the phone or they will keep calling!!!!

Actually there is a Law firm looking for students who have attended Kaplan, and are taking a Class action suit against the school for falsely advertising their courses, instructors and the successes they've lied about their students getting. It's all about the money. They don't care if you get an education, hands on is not their style now that the founder of the school is deceased there will never be any real learning.
Report by Fed up with Kaplan Long ago Unknown
I, too, attended Kaplan. I was with them 7 weeks and got fed up with their financial department. They would not answer my emails, and the financial advisers, and the enrollment counselors also remain "mute" to complaints from students. I guess if they ignore the emails they do not have to "deal" with the problem. Here is what I am doing: Sending letters, certified with return receipt requested to the Attorney General's office in Iowa, Florida,my home state, and to the FTC. I will also send another certified return receipt requested letter (with all copies attached) to the FAFSA and Ed Fund. I have kept all of my email copies I sent, as well as the "few" emails I received, since day 1, and will be attaching copies to each certified mail. The Attorney General's office is to protect consumers, including students. Institutes of higher education are businesses. The product is education and knowledge. The income source are students. This comes under the jurisdiction of the Attorney General. (Attorney General, not District Attorney).Hope this helps you!

They call me too saying I have missing docments...  They also call when I email my advisor.  I hate the fact they call me after I send an email.   I SENT A DARN EMAIL THAT MEANS EMAIL ME BACK DO NOT CALL ME !!!!  GET THE POINT KAPLAN
Report by Aj Scott Long ago Unknown
Its because you are in their computer more than one time. I was getting harassing emails and phone calls from them as well. I called my advisor and said what's their problem? Everything is removed to stop the 2nd set of junk! When I graduated with my BS in Web Development the school could not put 2 & 2 together that I was the same person getting the Masters' degree. Took FOREVER for them to understand my ssn and the other ssn was the same person - same number! I have to wonder at the callibur of people they hire!! It's a rip off too, the courses are not hands on, all you do is write - no placement guaranteed like other schools. Bad choice if you want to get a real job!

Actually, I just DID report them to the FCC!!
Report by Kelly Law Long ago Unknown
I also keep getting calls from them!  I still attend the school, considering I am almost done with my BA in Criminal Justice, but I have sent them ALL OF MY DOCUMENTS and they STILL keep calling!  I have sent them an email, threatening to call the FCC if they do not seise and desist these calls immediately!  I am planning on filing a complaint with the FCC and I suggest that anyone who gets these calls, whether you are a student or not, to file a complaint against them.  This is just getting ridiculous now and I'm getting SICK OF IT!!

Hello this is so funny I have sent my financial aid documents in atleast 5 times. They kept telling me to do it and finally they wanted them a 6th time and i said no, and continued going to school their. Its all of them Xavier and the advisors.
Report by Karen Long ago Unknown
These people call my house at least 6 times daily. They kicked me out of the school because they said that they did not have my financial aid documents that I sent them 4 count it for times. So, now they call and say that they want a copy of my social security card. Told them I no longer go to their school and hung up. They called back and my husband answered the phone and he told them to put us on a do not call list and we were told that we were put on that at least 5 times already and yet the still keep calling. I am contacting a lawyer because I can't stand the harrassment from these people anymore.

Boy, are you naiive!  You need to wake up and see the real truth. After we signed up for Internet service through ATT we began getting bogus charges every month on our phone bill for "services" we neither signed up for nor received.  When contacted to cancel, every one of these services claimed to have forms filled out with the email and phone number combination we provided only to ATT. Of course the name and other information was incorrect, but it was still enough to get charged to us.  If we notice and report them every month, they get canceled, but it happened again and again with a new "service."  Damn right they "stooped so low" and sold the phone #.  Finally, after reporting ATT to the state Public Utilities Commission AND the FCC, the bogus charges mysteriously stopped.

After about 5 or 6 calls and hitting the "remove from call list button" and still getting the calls, I finally had it.  So, I did hit the button that said I want to lower my interest rate.  Began telling that person to remove me from list - she hung up immediately.  So, the last time she called, I acted slowly speaking in a Chinese accent.  I provided her with all sorts of information saying that I do want to lower my bills.  I provided her with a false address and had to spell out everything I was saying as she didn't understand my false accent.  After almost 20 minutes on the phone I told her in perfect English to "Have a Nice Day" and I hung up on her!I had so much fun, I almost look forward to her calling me again!

The people who are calling have software that helps them use not existant numbers to call from.  Blocking them, reporting them to the DNC registry does no good, or reporting them to the FCC.  It has nothing to do with banks, politicians, or credit card companies,  What it has to do with is probably less than ten people calling from somewhere in the USA using phony incoming call numbers trying to get credit card information from you so they can charge your credit card up.  With enough info they can drain your bank account.  This scam has been reported on one of the major news chanels (I can't remember which) & they traced the software that allows them to change the phone numbers to a house in Florida with five people working the lines.  We ought to go after the software companies that sell this type of invasive software.  I had six calls in two days all from different numbers.  The 971 area code being used now is fraudulent.  They will keep calling as long as an answering machine or person picks up.  I have started to just pick up my phone press the answer button & let it sit there for serveral minutes so the answering machine won't kick in.

I have been researching the issue - check with each of your credit card companies - get on the web and find a phone number for privacy - get to a live person - they are selling your name to"Slect partners" which is BS.  Tell them to stop selling your name, print a copy of their privacy statement, record that time and date and person you talked to.  Now it get good - if they call again - record that number - file a small claims complaint in a local small claims court.  I haven't done this yet but read an article where you present your details to the judge - and he can award to damages - they will be viloation FTC laws and subject to civil suite - The article says they will over money like in the thousands - ???? they then will stopFirst get on the Do Not Call list at the FTC site - that is step one - shows you are telling the telemarketer you don't want their calls.  They are allowed one (1) ops - after that - you can get them to small claims court and they will end up paying you one way or the other.  I am in the process of tell all of the credit card firms I have - don't sell or share my name - Now I can go after them if it happens again.  They say it take about 30 days to stop the junk mail and phone calls.Go after your credit card firms - they have the deep pockets - get all of your call and documentation in a order and like in a note book or binder.Other thing you can do is do *60 and that will tell your phone service that you want to block the number - the system will ask you for the 971-217-9515 and then the phone service provider system will keep or block that number from calling you.  Only issue is you may have a limit of 10 to 15 numbers you can block. The laws are in favor of the big money - credit card companies, poltical parties, and politicians, and charities.  I will be calling my federal government state representative.  Start to call them and ask to talk about FTC and telemarketer- keep calling him/her and see how they like it - they like it alot because they get donations from the telemarketer and credit card firms to fund their election campains.  Kind of like the Fox who guards the hen house - they are a slimmy bunch - sorry to say - You can vote let them know you want the telemareting laws changed and make the do not call list a real on that support you the tax payer - not the big businesses that pay for the relecttion bums that are supposed to represent the common people.

I too worked for the company. The majority of the people working there were nice, i.e. people who were there for a long time, most management and anyone you may have known prior to employment. Most of what Mike has said is spot on. As far as the cold calling, there wasn't any information other than a phone number, unless someone in the other room happened to ruse some information out of the person the other day or possibly even just an hour or 2 before the number was routed to your station. And as far as the pay, if you did your job good enough without being rude, misleading or going too far off script you could make some good money between hourly pay and commissions. But when it came to commission, it was nice to see it actually payed to you....until the next few weeks to a month later when it was deducted from your next commission check claiming the customer cancelled.RIGHT! SURE. The thing I found funniest, was they had people come in time to time and explain "how the coverage works and what it DOES cover". And then the truly honest managers would tell you that its as useful as an invisible pair of designer pants. So I can confirm only some of the things Mike said, but if you really need a warranty you better get a brand new leased or financed vehicle because they come with a warranty that HAS to be honored by the dealership. Any other warranty is subject to interpretation. I was on the day shift for only a short few months, then there was a high volume of layoffs, including management and people who had given years and years of service making the filthy owners filthy rich....and that's how they repaid them for all their hard work. Lay off the ones making more money, no matter what their personal or financial situation may be. So that they could splurge on themselves a little more than usual. It was a few years ago that I worked for the company. So I can't really say how the company runs now, but then again, if its any of the same owners I doubt much has changed...because like Mike said, they weren't known for spending their own money OR the companies money for that matter.

This letter is to inform Warranty Division, that I,  no longer want to be apart of your services. Due to the fact, of lack of explanation regarding what is and is not covered in the extended warranty. Therefore your services were nothing of what I was expecting or what I needed to be covered, in other words it is useless to myself. Also I request to have my deposit and first payments that I made to your company returned back to myself. This is a decision that I already went through and made clear and there will not be any change of opinion.

I received a call stating I was being called because I have a vehicle that has under 75,000 miles and no warranty.  I am on the DNC list and have been for years and all of a sudden out of the blue I get a telemarketing call from this company, identified as National Protection Service, which is the parent company for Motor Vehicle Protection Corp.  When asked how they got my name, they told me it was "computer generated".  I work for a call center therefore, I know how this works and unless someone inquires, especially when on the DNC list, these companies are not allowed to call you.  It is a federal law!!  I asked to speak to a supervisor.  I was put on hold then conveniently hung up on.  I was furious.  I then called back and was told that people make mistakes and somehow the company received my name in regards to car warranties, which again, is a lie because I have a leased vehicle.  When I informed the person on the phone, he stated "oh.  we do not offer service for leased vehicles".  No sh&^!!!I am going to the next level and reporting this company to the attorney general's office for the state of NJ.  They try to play the dumb act, like they don't know they are doing something wrong.  They know damn well.

O i remember him i worked there for about 6 months on the night shift & adored my supervisor she was always helpful & even went out of her way to pick me up when i didn't have a ride to work, never had a problem & was always told not to say what mike is stating.I now work at the new & improved company with 2 of them & couldn't be happier. Theres always going to be a disgruntled employee when the employee does drugs & was always late for work if he even showed up..

Am I lying? I left your sham company because your leads were terrible. Every night the people would tell us "you just called 10 minutes ago". Not only that the data was so out dated if it was even there.Who in their right mind would of bought a warranty when we knew nothing but their name and address? You didn't want to spend any money. How many times did the auto dialer go down? How often did all 8 terminals work at once? You guys didn't want to spend the money. We were busting our a** while you were putzing around on myspace! Especially when only one or two people were making calls for the entire shift. Yes I realize that you're the owner/partner but a little help would of been nice. I work for a real telemarketing place that has real equipment, real scripts, real leads, and I'm making more in commish in one night than an entire week base at your dump. For real why did someone have to run outside to get one of you when they had a t/o?

Mike....I am trying to cancel the warranty for an 83 year old man. I've called twice and been told that they would fax the form for cancellation, but so far have not received the form. When I call (800-839-7940)I get put on hold and no one ever answers. The agent, John Gravante, whom you mention in your post, number is no longer valid. How do I cancel this for him? A sum of $666.33 was deducted on 12/17/08, and then $66.63 every month since. I know he has been scammed. What should he do??

I've worked for too many companies that perform the same shenanigans as mentioned by Mike.  If he is lying, as you say, therefore implying you are being honest, then why the username, "Employ", rather than your real name?  I suspect that you meant to spell it "Employee" anyway, and just failed to utilize your spell check software program.I hated working for these fly-by-night type telemarketing firms and only did it for the cash and being one of the best (thereby earning 6-8 thousand per month), it was tempting to remain, however...after feeling dirtier than a Mafioso for many years, I needed a hot bath.  So O left the industry for much lower pay.  More importantly, I felt much better about my soul...and for a non-religious sort such as myself, that's saying something!

Employ is towing the company line - beware any warranty company that calls you or send direct mailers - they will not honor your claims, will lie to you, and will not process a refund if you've already purchased one of these worthless warranties.  My advice, start an automobile savings account - you're much better off.

all the information mike has provided is incorrect. he worked there for a short time, and during that time i was employed there. he was terminated for non production and poor attendance. the coverage provided is standard warranty coverage as sold by all telemarketing companies. the stipulations mike stated do not exist and we were often written up or suspended if we did not remove dnc people from our lists. apparantly mike did not listen or follow directions well and did not become familiar with the coverage we were selling. that maybe the reason he was terminated. i recently moved and could not make the commute back and forth to toms river. that is the only reason i left the company and have never had a problem with them or their sales tactics. it sounds  to me like mike is upset because he lost his job! (which he apparantly did not know how to do.

HI used to work for this company. Let me tell you about it. There are many owners. Dana Gravante, Robert Gravante, John Gravante, Amanda Gravante, Erica Smith, Brian Conte, and Jerri (can't remember her last name). They all used to work for a company in Brick NJ called National Protection Services. The way this company works is they buy the cheapest leads. Usually ones that have been sold to other telemarketing companies, so the people #1 kept getting called #2 didn't even need the service. They don't comply with the DNC registry because we were instructed to just put those calls to re dial at a later time. I'm sure you heard something like "Hello Soandso. My name is Earl and I'm calling from the warranty division (when asked warranty division of what we told to say that we just a cancellation department for all makes). Our records indicate that your vehicle has under 150,000 miles and your warranty has expired. In order to get you back in coverage can you please tell me how many miles approximately are on your vehicle. Ok great. And are you still residing at 31 Main St in Toms River NJ (this is their address)? Wonderful and for verification purposes can you please state the make and model of your vehicle (half the time we didn't even have that)?  Ok I have some good news for you we can get you back into coverage(which was bs you needed to have the policy for 30days before it was active). This coverage includes headlight fluid, muffler bearings, and widgets." This policy was ok if you took your car to the mechanic and never even opened your hood since you needed to have records for all work done on your car. Add wiper fluid void the warranty. Change a fuse void the warranty. Wash your car void the warranty! If I were even considering one I definately wouldn't buy off a telemarketer and certinaly not off a company that has no web site or will send information in the mail. They are just bad news. Bad business people and bad employers. They hold your final pay for months then claim like they didn't know it was due! They own quite a few numbers other then the one listed. I will look in my papers and see if I still have them. Hope this is helpfu

Dean Williams or dwilliams2g1@yahoo.com sent us an e-mail requesting 10 blowers to be shipped to Sweden. He gave a false address somewhere in ChinaTown in San Francisco Ca. He will not give a good number only (209) 207-3866 which is an extension that no one answers. He gives a credit card number but wants our machines approval codes so he can cancel the transaction after we ship the goods. We were smart enough to google his information before losing $7,000. Please do not deal with this idiot and soon enough he will go to jail where he belongs!

Emailed us to buy a used watercraft and wants to use a credit card number.  Says his name is David Williams from Toronto, and used this phone number.  When you call the number back it goes to an answering machine.  The address he used is a bar/restaurant address in Toronto at 67 Front Street E, M5E 1B5.   He speaks very slowly on the phone, probably because English is his second language.  The item he wants to buy is quite old and not worth shipping to the east, so the transaction was already suspicious.  Email address he used is dwilliams2g1@yahoo.com.
