This number shows the Caller ID of Jay Kogan. Not a telemarketing scam. It's a legitimate business called Shop-N-Chek, which is a company that hires independent contractors to do mystery shops of major retailers/restaurant chains (McDonalds is one.) If you got this call, it might be because you signed up to be a mystery shopper.

Scam, Scam, Scam.....I received my second "Sorry We Missed You" card today.  We I moved to Texas 6 months ago and received one shortly after moving in.  I didn't contact them the first time, and have no intention of contacting them now.  I know what I order, and how it is being delivered, and this card just reads scam all over it.I did Google the website listed on the card, but just like everyone else said.....it does not exist.

just received the same card from Eclipse Distribution for 3rd and final attempt and and ID number. Phone # was 512-213-2550. Also listed a number for San Antonio. After reading all the posts, I wish I had not called. She wanted to verify my email address to send me a survey that would qualify me for the $100 gift card. Didn't verify my address but knew my name...full name...from the ID number on the card. so weird. Said it was a solicitation from Austin area restaurant owners looking to know what customers are wanting etc.  Then she gave me a spill about ADT home security system and if I needed any pest control references. I said no.  Hate I gave her my email but if thats the worst then its ok. Just got the email from them as I am writing this...from METRO DELIVERY...Congratulations on your new home! Link to the survey and restaurant.com logo on the bottom.

I received two "Sorry We Missed You Cards" from Eclipse Distribution. They never rang the door bell as I am home all day every day. I hope for their sake they are not planning to burglarize this home, it may be their last. It baffles me when people decide they want to break into other peoples home and/or steal their property, and they never know if the owners have some serious defense/weapons training, pit bulls, etc...

We moved into a neighborhood in Maricopa, Arizona, last March and have been getting these Eclipse postcards ever since. Got one just a few minutes ago, which prompted me to finally do a Google search, and this conversation came up. Today they rang my doorbell, stuck the card in the screen door, and split before I could answer the door (I got there after about 90 seconds). The number on my card (for Phoenix) is 602-635-1820.

Very interesting prior comments! As I was going out of my driveway yesterday, I see this guy pulling up next to my mailbox at the end of my driveway. I stop, he gets out of his old, ramshackle car and hands me a card that says"sorry we missed you" 1st attempt. This guy is pretty rough looking, sort of homeless/gypsy looking character. I asked what it was that he was trying to deliver or what I was missing and he could not give me an answer--just jumped back in his car and took off. My first thought was he was going to open my mailbox and rip me off and I caught him just in time. My wife talked me into doing the survey on the card to get a "$100 restaurant.com" free certificate. After doing the survey, talking to the reps 2 times, not getting anything from them, it became apparent that there is some kind of scam going on around here.Ironically, about 5 hours after he comes by, another strange character comes by and tries to sell us his "left-over 3 dump trucks of road base/asphalt left over from another job nearby". I ask for the job address so I can go see the job he suppossedly just completed and he didn't even know where the job was that apparently he just came from." Surprisingly", he did not even have the trucks with him. He was going to sell me the road base for $15 a yard--however, he had no idea how many yards he had or how many yards are in a dump truck--(common knowledge-12-13 yards per dump truck).I suspect these guys are gypsies/scam artists casing out this area to see who is home and to empty your roadside mailboxes, if they can. BEWARE FOLKS The number on this "Sorry We Missed You Card" is the same as the comments above--512-262-9918

Just wanted to thank you all for posting your comments.  My story is identical -- just moved in 3 weeks ago, live in Texas, the card says the same as everyone else's.    My concern was that maybe leaving this "sorry we missed you" card one, two or three times is a clever pretext for these people to try to figure out which new residents work during the day and are not home -  in case they were casing the neighborhood.    Maybe I'm just paranoid.  Hopefully it is just a stupid scam for us to call them and get on their marketing robot calling system.  Anyway, thanks for the heads up on this.  Your comments helped reassure me not to respond to the card.

Received a note of "3rd and Final" attempt by the "Eclipse Distribution," even though we have never received a prior note. Handwriting on note was way too neat for a normal delivery. We got something similar to this from another "made up" company. We have lived in this house less than a year (probably someone in the process of our buying our house sold our information  . . .). There is an open source project called "Eclipse" with many different types of software "distributions", so I suspect these guys are using the name as cover (so that it is harder to look them up to confirm that they are a scam).

PDR2 (1-202-234-3930) is Share Group, they solicit for (your) money on behalf of "prior relationships" you may have had with charities or other non-profit organizations. As such they probably consider themselves as fundraisers and not as telemarketers and seem be be interpreting the laws of harassing phone soliciting to not apply. They are wrong. I'm so relieved to see all these people who got calls from pdr2.  Honestly, I thought it was someone either (1) trying to find out if someone was home so they could burglarize my house or (2) a weird former client harassing me.  What a relief to find out it's apparently a nationwide scam of some sort.  But here's what I don't understand.  They called on Thursday, I answered, they asked for me by name and I said yes it's me, then the person seemed to be talking to someone else then he said this is a bad connection, I'll call back.  But he never did.  It's like they just wanted to find out ifI was here.  Same caller today, I answered, they hung up.  That's the part I don't understand.  Why aren't they hustling me for money, if that's their goal.  Very creepy.

There is no Share Website. No one answers the phone. And the email gets bounced back. They are calling because they want you to answer. Once you answer, they sell your number as a viable number to scammers. Don't recognize the number-don's answer. They call my cell phone 30-50 times a month, never leave a message, and it cannot be due to my contributions or donations to anyone, because I do not give away my money for any reason. Turn your ringer off and ignore.

Hi - here's a tryI emailed Massachusett's AG office and actually got a phone call reply.  They said that if the company is political or Sierra Club (??), it's not illegal. But they said the'd look into it and report it to some other government office (?).  The company is SHARE inc. in Newton, Mass.  I also called the 202 number from a land line and left a message asking how to get off list.  I actually got a voice mail back saying to call back with the # I wanted off the list.  I did (called from the land line).  I'm keeping my fingers crossed but haven't gotten a call on my cell for a WEEK!  I also wrote ot our (NY) AG's office. One other suggestion that takes two seconds - I wrote to ACLU & Sierra Club and wrote that if they ever want another donation they need to get their robo callers to stop calling daily.

You make it sound so logical and businesslike.  PDR II harasses people for money.  Anyone who thinks it is a civil, reasonable practice to make 20-60 unsolicited calls to a private home over 3 weeks has truly lost their way.  I only hope that the Bible is correct and you reap what you sow.

The only problem with answering and asking to be taken of the list is that the person on the other end will explain that you have to call the charity/political organization and request to be removed from the list. The Share Group is just a contractor who has no control over the actual list. You may also get calls from the same number again but under contract with a different charity. At least this is what I've been told the few times I have answered their calls. My preferred solution is to add the number to my contacts and make the phone not ring when they call.

PDR II/Share is no scam. It is a professional fundraising firm, there are a number of similar companies out there. The way it works is, a charity or other non profit, like a political campaign, gives one of these fundraising companies a list of several thousand supporters and has the fundraising firm call them all to ask for money or other support.Callers don't leave messages because normally the computer dialer does not even put a real person on the line if the phone isn't answered by a person. And people get lots of calls/calls don't stop because PDR II doesn't control who it calls. The non-profit tells it who to call, often they have duplicate records for one person or multiple records per house. Sometimes, also, two or more of the non profits who hire PDR II have the same household on their supporters list. Bottom line: PDR II can end up calling the same house 3 times a day because one charity has a separate record for both a husband and wife and then another political cause has the household listed again. Why do nn-profits hire PDR II? Well, setting up a call center costs a huge amount of money and a charity that has two or three fundraising drives a year can't afford to have one, so it is most economical for these groups to basically pool resources and hire a firm like PDR II.Any PDR II caller will take your number off the call list, but its not PDR's call list you are removed from. Your name is removed from that one organization's call list. If someone else wants PDR II to call you next week it will because it has no idea. PDR II doesn't keep records on people, the data belongs to the organizations and is returned to them immediately after the fundraising drive. Also, the 'Do Not Call List' does not matter, that list applies only to for profit companies. Because PDR II is calling on behalf of charities and other non-profits these calls are exempt. Finally, not answering will only guarantee more calls. Each campaign lasts anywhere from one to four weeks. The computer keeps dialing a house's number until a caller records a refusal/gift/unavailable/etc. Best option, pick up the phone and say what you want done for that organization's calls.

Yep. UPS's local hub calling about UPS delivery matters, ref. Los Angeles, South Bay.  Msg left was their usual 'I dunno what we needed to call you about' (after my repeatedly complaining about a clear cut specific issue of their supposed online tracking's ability to accept a "UPSInfoNotice" number in lieu of a tracking number (which despite their website saying so, it rejects UPSInfoNotice numbers.  I also had asked in a UPS web-mail, why their carrier left that notice without filling anything out but my name and date (so I had no idea who the parcel was from, no idea if it was first delivery attempt, last delivery attempt, notice if it was being returned to sender, whether or not someone signed for it or if the parcel had been left somewhere); ie; UPS's typical 'do as little a possible to deliver' and/or 'so called responses to complaints'.

1/21/08 and 1/22/08 I get two voicemail messages with my correct name being called and a man stating he was calling from UPS about a delivery of a package- but leaves no call back number or reference number for UPS.  So I believe it was some scam.I kept calling the number back but it was constantly busy.  I called on January 25th on Friday around 4pm- just by chance-- and found it to be "Hello Government  (blurbed not understood) office HOw may I help you?"I was stunned- a real person?  A male voice.  I asked him to repeat where I was calling-- He said this is a Government Official office who are you trying to reach?  I stated that according to my caller ID- and two voicemail messages left for me-- that this number is supposed to be UPS Harbor Center office- has anyone else ever called you expecting you to be UPS?  The man said NO and that it was really an office for Councilwoman Janice Hahn.   I thought this was VERY ODD since I WORK for Janice Hahn!So I got the guy's name and we have NO info or office for Janice Hahn at this number!   I kept calling back and constant busy signal.  It is very odd indeed and creepy-- the male voice knew my name on the voice mail message from "UPS" I had a delivery problem WITH UPS during Christmas 2007 and now someone is calling from this number asking for me;  and then I call back and get a person telling me it is MY EMPLOYER's OFFICE?!!!I played with the number- and called 310-217-2691 and UPS Harbor Center DID answer--- very bizarre.

All the caller I.D. says Wyoming, and when my husband called the number he got weird noises like it was a FAX line.

I just got a call from this PDR2 number..odd, illogical pitch for Congressional Democrats, linking their need for money and matching grants to the upcoming Supreme Court decision on health care reform. It may or may not have been a scam. I said no, as I think it's best not to donate money to any random caller (or doorbell ringer, for that matter), only in situations I initiate.

Not only is that not true, a google search of the name he used came of empty (how likely is it he just misspoke? I suppose it's possible....). Now why would a reputable non-profit organization not have a web presence if they were seeking donations?I adamantly told the guy tonight (first time I finally answered the call from PDR2 after who knows how long of calls) to stop calling.
